These are really impressive.
as a writer, i use the copywrite symbol and the date on everything i wish to protect.
It might be a legal thing, but you may have to use the symbol- other than writing the sentiment.
If you dont know- you probably do, it is the letter c inside a circle.
john
theyre very beautiful I would like to see the detail better.
AWESOME!!!!! I’m jealous! I went to my art class today and thought what I did was very ugly. It was a landscape and they’re not my thing, not that I really know what my thing is or even if I capable of having a thing anyway. That probably makes no sense but since the ugly landscape it’s like there’s an out of tune, tune playing in my head.
They are beautiful. I love the colours you have used.
fantastic - they look amazing and very detailed. Will look forward to checking some out at the blue turtle.
very nice .. artist
I don’t want to rain on your parade madartist but you should be aware of Nook’s T’s and C’s whereby you lose the rights to anything uploaded.
Not me but some unscrupulous person could take advantage of this so best beware.
Nice designs though. Hard to see with my eyes but is each quadrant a mirror or reverse of its opposite ?
They are beautiful! Well done… it must have taken a lot of work. I especially like the third one with the gold around the outside.
Can you jog my memory as to the thought behind a mandala? Love these by the way. Like the second one. especially.
Hi John- As a writer, musician and artist, I am very familiar with copyright law and it is not necessary to use the copyright symbol. You can find more information here:
http://www.ipaustralia.gov.au/ip/copyright.shtml
this website has it all - it is really brilliant!
Cheers:)
thanks admin:)
I’m not sure what they are exactly, but they look pretty !
Wish I could see better detail, but they look beautiful and very labour intensive.
Great stuff!
Hannasgranpa - what do the T&C state that usurps my rights as legitimate copyright holder?
Admin - what is this? If it is correct, please advise as I would like to know the actual terms stated whereby this applies. If not - please state so here, so that others know.
Hannahsgranpa - you were right! OMG! That’ll teach me to skim the T&C and then forget them a year on! I have deleted my photos - Nook has no right to use my work without permission or compensation. Seeing this has really changed my mind about this site…
This is the para:
5. For content that you add to nook.com.au, you agree that we may use all intellectual property rights in that content throughout the world, in perpetuity, without restriction and without making any payment to you or any other person. The use that can be made includes publication of that material in hard copy publications or in electronic media, using your content in editorial, advertising and promotional material for us and permitting others to do any of these things.
Hmmmmmmmmmm………..
Not good.
winnierose - a mandala is basically the sanskrit word for circle. I don’t use the Tibetan mandala form, rather I use the Jungian form and use them as a tool for self growth and personal healing. I have found them to be incredibly powerful as a meditation tool for growth and healing purposes. They are an incredible artform - in my use, there are no rules - whatever is in the circle is an expression of your inner self and it is a very cathartic process releasing inner stuff onto the physical outer plane. The mandala can be created from any medium and I find it crucial to meditate into the correct space to commence them. There is tons and tons of info on the web, but the best place to start (in my opinion) is:
http://www.mandalaproject.org/
This is a wonderful site and shows some incredible stuff…
Cheers and happy surfing:)
Yep I have to admit that I did not really like handing over the intellectual property rights to anything I contribute to nook. At the time of joining I was really only trying to win an ipod and did not imagine for an instant that I would become so attached to the site or spend so much time composing posts.
I would like the paragraph clarified though. Does it mean that I loose the rights to anything I have posted or does it mean that I retain the rights but that Nook also has the right to use it in any way.
Also who are the others referred to in the last sentence “…permitting others to do any of these things.”
Mad Artist
Yes you are right, but the symbol just stands out boldly, so that there is no need to make any determination regarding whatever intentions you may have re your IP.
Lawyers can be tricky with words- re intent, but not the copyright symbol.
The T&C
I am really annoyed at myself for not being aware of this, and will not be showing pics on this site, and will have to qualify any rights nook has to reproducing artwork submitted to the exhibion…
My understanding of NOoks position is that they can not be denied use of your IP, however, they do not exclude you from publishing elsewhere…
john
Sorry about not getting back earlier madartist bit you seem to have found the hitch. I think the last sentence “…permitting others to do any of these things.” may be due to the fact that anything you post may be googled. Try googling Mandalas Magic Me and about page 2 you will find a link that goes straight to your nook post. This means that anything you post is immediately in the public domain.
You’re not the only one who skims Ts & Cs. I went back to re-read after all the non-appearance of posts business. There are also strange rules about not posting email addresses and, stranger still, URLs.
