From 7.30 pm tonight and next Thursday too, my friend Shirleys band “BLACKBIRD” is playing at the Coldstream Brewery in Coldstream (on the highway opposite the fuel stop - it used to be the old antique shop).

If you feel like a bit of a boogy, or simply want to get out and support a local blues band, you are invited!

WYREENA SOLO EXHIBITION - One week to go!

Hi all! With just over one week to go to the opening night, I am feeling a little anxious. Will anyone turn up? Will anything sell? Will I cope with the teenager starting his final year at high school (LOL)?

This is my last exhibition as a hobby artist - and presents an opportunity to purchase at low prices.

It has been a very interesting Journey to get to this point. I would love to hear other accounts of exhibiting. I am also really interested in getting a community cooperative arts gallery here in Lilydale. Maybe the Shire could become involved as so many others do. Any ideas? Support?

Thank You Yellowglen

Not being a heavy drinker, and really concerned about drinking and driving, it was with much delight that I discovered the most marvelous champagne in my local bottleshop. Marketed by Yellowglen, it is called Jewel and contains only 3.6 standard drinks PER BOTTLE!!! Yep, no more worries about drinking and driving. No more problems with nasty hangovers after 3 glasses wine. It was bubbly and tasted fairly well compared to the other full strength varieties. With many birthdays, spring, summer and xmas coming up, I am really happy to have found some light bubbly to take with me and celebrate in moderation.

Kudos to Yellowglen! If only more winemakers could take responsibility and release a few more light bottled wines…

Celebrating Spring

I had the most wonderful weekend! The arrival of Spring saw me with tons of washing on the line - you may think me mad or very strange, but I love the smell of freshly laundered sun dried washing - especially when I put the still sun-warm sheets back on my bed! So very Spring!

My son took me out for Fathers Day, thanking me for being both his mum and his dad. We went to Purple Haze to join in the acoustic jam that happens on the first Sunday of every month. There were 4 of us and we sang gospel and blues and jazz and soul and folk music until closing time. It was so very good for my soul!

I also indulged in a huge slice of delicious passionfruit sponge - yum yum yum! That and a truly excellent latte made it just the best arvo for ages.

There is something magical and uplifting about sharing food and song:)

Took up my latest mandala - Purple Haze. It was supposed to be about lavender and the colour purple but it came out as a tribute to Jimi Hendrix - there was nothing I could do about it, thats what I love about mandala creation. What you intend to create and what actually happens are two different things. I think I channelled Jimi for 2 weeks while I was doing this one!

I’m not going to post it here for very obvious reasons, but will make it available at some stage for www viewing - am still working on my photobucket site.

Have a wonderful week everyone:)

Ok - here are some pictures of my work!

My mandala photos will be uploaded to photobucket shortly - please stay tuned!

Mandalas Magic Me

Today I started my 21st mandala in a twelve month period. Talk about work! Not that I count it as work of course, for me, painting is just pure love and joy. Starting to get together all the information I need to have a solo exhibition next year. Its always a big ask, specially if, like me, you have disabilities that affect your energy levels. But I know that if its meant to be, it will happen.

Am working on uploading some images to Nook - please remember that all artwork that appears on my pages is fully copyrighted under the Intellectual Property Laws of Australia. Please respect my work and don’t borrow, copy, steal or alter images. If you want to use something - please ask:)

New Work New Owner New FOOD!!!

Hi all - dropped into the Blue Turtle this morning with 3 new mandalas for display (the others had been there for too long) and met the new proprietor of the cafe - the wonderfully creative and energetic Marianna! We spent some time over a latte to talk about the new direction the cafe was headed in and it sounds fantastic!

Marianna wants to bring city sophistication to the suburbs without the high rise prices. Her anticipated changes to the menu bought about much drooling on my behalf - the introduction of local produce and wines with the opportunity of tastings really caught my interest. Plus - the Blue Turtle will be opening in the later part of the week for dinner! And just in time for my birthday! Excellent - no cooking that night for me!

So drop in - say hello, check out my mandalas (there is other art work there too…) and enjoy!

Determined to be regular!

Hi guys and gals!

I have decided to try and update my blog once a week - sorry to all of you who have been trying to get me to answer my posts LOL!

In the words of John Lennon…. I’m trying!

Blues at Purple Haze

Hi all:)

Just wanted to let you know about the wonderful session I had to day at the Purple Haze cafe in Wandin (Melways Ref 121 F1) - every Sunday at 2 pm (or thereabouts) there is an acoustic jam happening - and the acoustics are amazing! So is the company:)
Had a great sing and guitar sesh! Looking for more ppl to come join us:)

The hosts - Shirley and John - are fabulous. Shirley is a great singer and they are wonderful hosts.

Food is available and INCREDIBLE! Whoever thought passionfruit and lavender could go so well together! The service is first class and the atmosphere is like my lounge room, just not untidy!

Dutch Tilders - that great Melbourne bluesman will be performing there next weekend, the 14th July. Bookings are absolutely essential as places are limited. You can phone John & Shirley on 59 643 621.

They also have a Christmas in July menu which sounds absolutely delish! Check them out www.warratinalavender.com.au and pay them a visit - it is well worth your time.  THey are open 10-5 Weds thru to Sunday and serve yummy local food and wine…

Tell your friends!!!
